Elemental Journeys Concept and Outline

Be Yew Elemental Journeys:

The forgotten teachings of our ancestors...

Be Yew has grown from the understanding that we, as human beings on this earth, are at one with the natural world around us. Although our lives and social structures in this modern world may be in stark contrast to the rest of the natural world, we are still essentially organic beings living and depending on the resources the earth provides for us.

Our ancestors maintained a deep and respectful relationship with the earth, living a life in sync with the seasons, the moon phases and the astronomical events throughout the year, such as the equinoxes and solstices. Their understanding of human nature reflected deeply upon the changes of the seasons and times of year.

Through observation, they integrated times of rest, reflection and honouring of our ancestors throughout the darker times of year, and celebrated rebirth, creation of new ideas and periods of growth, throughout the brighter times of the year. They understood the importance of community, of supporting one another, particularly during the winter months.

Because of all this, their lives were balanced and in harmony with the world around them, their family and community, and in harmony with their own personal needs. They made space for contemplation and connection with their higher selves, being often "guided" by the stars and the signs observed throughout the natural world around them.

Modern day lifestyle restricts our connection to the earth and ourselves...

In today's world, due to a rapid increase in trade, consumerism and industry, many people find that time simple flies by, without time to consider their own personal emotional, energetic and spiritual needs. Many find themselves in a cycle of working all week, and resting all weekend, in order to have the energy to work again the following week.

There is no resting period in our modern calendars, which results in noticeable rises in depression, anxiety and discontentment during the long winter months, as it is simply incoherent with our natural biological clocks.

The solution is simple...

However, there are lot's we can do to bring balance and reconnection back into our lives. One of the simplest ways is through meditation. This is a process based on conscious breathing, relaxation and intention, which allows you to step out of mental clutter and into a state of being in the present moment. The wonderful thing about meditation is that it can be done anywhere or at anytime!

Here at Be Yew, I have put together a series of carefully structured guided meditations to help you reconnect with yourself and the natural world around you.

As these are readily available to you, from the comfort of your own home, you can use these meditations at your convenience, in an environment that feels right for you. This can be at home, in a quite room, with a candle and dimmed lights, or outside in the garden under your favourite tree. It can be on the train, on your way home after a long day at work. I wanted to create a programme which can be easily adapted to your needs, and your schedule.

What you can expect from Elemental Journeys...

Elemental Journeys is based on the elements - Earth, Water, Fire and Wind. As humans, we are made up of each of the elements. Physically, we consist of water and earth, and energetically we consist of fire and wind. Throughout these meditations, you will be guided to connect to each of these elements, their characteristics, their strengths, and the aspects of yourself which are connected to each one. When we understand the elements and their teachings, we can integrate these into our lives and call on their strengths when required.

For Example:

Earth represents stability and determination, amongst others. Whether you require the emotional strength to work through a difficult situation, or whether you require extra determination to see a new project through, connecting with the element of earth, which you will be taught how to do through the meditations, will help provide you with the additional energetic support you need to succeed.

Across the world, in ancient times, whether you look to the Native Americans, Eastern Philosophy or European indigenous teachings, in every civilisation, the elements were represented as great teachers and givers of wisdom and strength.

Here at Be Yew, our aim is to reawaken that dormant knowledge within us and recreate this sacred bond to the earth and the teachings it openly provides for us.
